Registering for Work Experience Course
Registration procedures for Work Experience (WKEXP) 901 through 905 courses are the same as those for regular academic courses. Students should register in the appropriate co-op course using Bear Tracks.
Fall & Winter Sessions
Fall and winter work term registration takes place during the preceding spring/summer. Students select and register in their academic and work experience courses as follows:
- Academic courses or the appropriate work experience course for the period September 1 to December 31.
- Academic courses or the appropriate work experience course for the period January 1 to April 30.
Summer Session
Work experience courses that occur between May 1 and August 31 are listed in term 2 of the Summer Session. Registration for these work experience courses opens in February and closes in early July.
Co-op Course Fee
There is a ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ course fee for each four-month work term (WKEXP).
The fee for each Work Experience course is set by the University. In addition to the course fee, there are miscellaneous fees from the university and Students’ Union, such as the UPass.
For domestic students, you can find work experience fee information from the Office of the Registrar.
For more information, please visit the Financial Considerations page.
Taking courses while in co-op
Students should be committed to their employment. Provided it does not interfere with work hours, students are permitted to take a maximum of one course during each 4-month work term (i.e., you may not take a spring and a summer course — only one 3-credit course in a 4 month period). In the event of crossover between the course and work term hours, a student must obtain permission to take the course from both the employer/supervisor and the Co-op Office. Employers are not required to give you time off for exams, or adjust schedules for night courses. Student services will delete all course overages.
