Student Wellness
Your well-being is our priority. To support you in navigating university life, the faculty offers stress-management workshops, engaging social events and self-care kits designed to promote relaxation and mindfulness. The faculty’s goal is to equip undergraduate students with essential tools for a successful and balanced academic experience.

Take a Break
Gather, socialize and connect with your peers! Explore the board game library, video game collection and other fun activities such as ping pong – everything can be borrowed with a valid OneCard. Enjoy healthy snacks to fuel your studies and say “hi” to the CAAWLS wellness dogs on select days to help alleviate your stress and make you smile.
Take a Break is about more than just games and snacks; it’s about:
- Supporting work-life balance
- Managing stress through fun and relaxation
- Meeting and connecting with your peers
- Learning skills for personal and academic growth

Recreation and Activity Sessions
Each recreation and activity session supports an aspect of wellness such as physical fitness, social belonging, creative expression or work-life balance.
The sessions are intended to complement existing wellness strategies and wellness programs on campus through partnerships with Campus & Community Recreation. Get out there, connect with your peers and try something new!

Celebration of Hard Work Event
The Celebration of Hard Work event occurs near the end of the Fall and Winter semesters to celebrate your achievements as students.
With many of you doing coursework in addition to part-time jobs, extracurricular activities and personal commitments, this is a reminder to celebrate your accomplishments. Enjoy special treats and the board game and video game libraries, which are accessible with a valid OneCard.

Self-Care Kits
The faculty provides self-care kits to first-year students at orientation.
The self-care kits contain information to help you access academic, mental health, physical health and social resources. Even if you don’t access these resources yourself, the information in the self-care kit can help you share with your friends and classmates how to get the support they need. If you missed orientation, you can request a self-care kit by contacting engglife@ualberta.ca.
