Everyone in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences has a role to play in learning about and taking action to advance Indigenous Initiatives.

Student groups + opportunities

Aims to establish an environment wherein Indigenous STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students can cultivate a sense of community and mentorship among members.

Providing research experience for First Nations, Métis and Inuit undergraduate students in environmental fields including science, environmental engineering, environmental law and policy.

National call to Indigenous and Black scholars to pursue full-time PhD studies in any engineering discipline at U of A

Susan Jensen Indigenous Support Fund

The fund is the first support endowment in the Faculty of Science for Indigenous students, supporting students via undergraduate scholarships, bursaries, and fees for equipment and conferences as they pursue their education in the Faculty of Science.

Supports all undergraduate students underrepresented in STEM fields.

Supporting women and under-represented individuals in science, technology, engineering, and research.

Engaging children and youth

CNAS faculties are involved in and support programs and organizations that actively engage children and youth in activities to spark their interest in STEM fields.

Fred Otto DiscoverE Program

The DiscoverE program is a student-delivered initiative that works everyday to get youth excited about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This includes summer camps at the U黑料不打烊 North campus, summer camps in rural and Indigenous communities, classroom kits, and Fem+ and GEM+.
