Fighting the adverse effects of chemotherapy: The power of omega-3’s in colorectal cancer

Fats make foods like chocolate, pastries, chips, cheese and steak irresistible — but they also impact health. This talk explores how omega-3 fatty acids from fish and marine algae, known for their anti-inflammatory properties, may protect colorectal cancer patients from gut damage caused by FOLFIRI, a harsh chemotherapy regimen.

Sarah Parsons, a registered dietitian and PhD candidate in Human Nutrition, investigates how diet influences cancer treatment effects. On The Edge, hosted by U of A's Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies, showcases cutting-edge research monthly at the Strathcona Library. Join us to uncover the power of omega-3’s in colorectal cancer.
