The Incubator for Northern Design and Innovation (INDI) encourages and promotes provocative ideas and multilateral exchanges to foster the growth of projects and resources through social-cultural collaborations by, for, and with northern peoples.

LASERAlberta

LASER Talks sponsored by Leonardo the International Society for Arts, Sciences, and Technology (Leonardo/ISAST). Founded in 2008, LASERs are now happening in over two dozen locales internationally.

It's is a nonprofit organization that serves the global network of distinguished scholars, artists, scientists, researchers and thinkers through our programs focused on interdisciplinary work, creative output and innovation.

From its beginnings, Leonardo/ISAST has served as THE virtual community for purposes of networking, resource-sharing, best practices, research and events in Art/Science/Technology.

Mactaggart Art Collection

The Mactaggart Art Collection is composed of more than 1200 rare works of art, including textiles, costumes, paintings, handscrolls, albums, engravings, and other artifacts from ancient and modern East Asia.

Postdoctoral Fellows + Visiting Scholars, Artists, + Designers

The Department of Art & Design has a long history of hosting postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars, artists, and designers. We welcome applications from local, national, and international scholars who wish to pursue work in our Department, collaborating with our faculty, staff, and students. We suggest that applicants identify and contact faculty members with whom they wish to work to discuss possibilities.

Print Study Centre

The Print Study Centre is an interactive facility for teaching, research, and community outreach related to our print collection.

The print collection includes:

  • Historical and contemporary Japanese, contemporary Canadian, and contemporary eastern European prints;
  • A selection of print portfolios by single and grouped artists; and
  • The body of works by 黑料不打烊 printmaking students and instructors.

Printmaking: A Centre of Research Excellence

The of the Department of Art & Design has achieved an international reputation as one of the outstanding places in North America to study graphic art. This reputation is based not only on recognition of the creative work of the Printmaking faculty members and their graduate students, but also on the state-of-the-art technical facilities that support their research and creative work.

Research-Creation + Social Justice CoLABoratory

The brings together key researchers at the 黑料不打烊 with national and international affiliates interested in developing a critical discourse of research-creation attuned to social justice. We aim to position the 黑料不打烊 as a leader in social-justice related research-creation innovation in Western Canada through the development of robust interdisciplinary collaboration across faculties.

Speculative Energy Futures

A collaborative interdisciplinary project that is part of the Future Energy Systems initiative funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. It poses the question: How might artistic research help to re-invent the future?

This is a forum for scholars and creative researchers to engage in a dialogue about their projects with the 黑料不打烊 community. Presentation formats vary widely, from the traditional lecture to dynamic panel discussions.
