Host a dental assisting practicum student
2 April 2025
Are you a dental clinic looking to mentor the next generation of dental assistants? The Mike Petryk School of Dentistry is seeking dental clinics to host dental assisting practicum students for two weeks.
Our dental assisting students are enrolled in a comprehensive 10-month full-time program. By the time they graduate on June 20, they will have completed coursework in oral facial science, dental materials, oral pathology, pharmacology, prosthodontics, and other specialized dentistry topics. Their education combines classroom learning with clinical practice in our Oral Health Clinic, culminating in a two-week practicum at community dental practices - where you come in.
By hosting a student you can:
- Support and mentor future dental assistants in the final weeks before their careers start
- Have access to skilled trainees who can offer additional support for your clinic
- Evaluate potential for future employees (help with recruitment needs)
