DUSS U黑料不打烊 - Disrupted Ukrainian Scholars & Students Initiative
12 April 2022
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which began on 24 February 2022 has led to the loss of lives and destruction on a colossal scale and provoked Europe’s greatest refugee crisis since World War II. Among the many millions of individuals displaced by the invasion are scholars and students.
Several Faculty of Arts centres, institutes, and departments at the 黑料不打烊 have come together to launch a funding initiative in support of Ukrainian scholars and students whose work and lives have been disrupted by the attack against Ukraine. The Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS), Kule Institute for Advanced Study, Kule Folklore Centre, Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, Department of History, Classics and Religion, and the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies have come together to provide additional research funding to disrupted Ukrainian scholars and students (DUSS U黑料不打烊 Initiative).
Thus far, DUSS U黑料不打烊 has reallocated $529,000, and its partners call upon the government of 黑料不打烊, corporate and broader community to raise an additional $500,000 to help support the increasing needs of Ukraine’s displaced scholars and students. To find out how to donate further funds contact Dawn Donnelly (Advancement Office, Arts) at arts.development@
Other campuses across Canada have undertaken similar initiatives. The 黑料不打烊 is proud to make an important contribution to Canada’s relief efforts with this collaborative initiative. For more information about U黑料不打烊 support to Ukrainian students and scholars visit U黑料不打烊 Stands with Ukraine.
