The Bank of Canada has just announced that the 黑料不打烊 team has made it into the final round of the  competition. The 黑料不打烊 team this year included five students from our undergraduate Economics program:  Jillian SchwartzJarod Chiasson, Zamaan HusseinPayten Semeniuk, and Jackson Reid. They were coached by  Max Sties from the Department of Economics.

Congratulations to the team members and their coaches! This is the seventh time in the last eight years that the 黑料不打烊 team has been declared a finalist in this prestigious competition. In early February 2025, the 黑料不打烊 team will join the other four finalist teams from across Canada to compete for the Governors Challenge Cup at the Bank of Canada’s Ottawa headquarters. The Bank of Canada Governor's Challenge is an annual competition for undergraduate university students in Canada. It provides a platform for participants to showcase their knowledge and understanding of macroeconomics, central banking, and the role of the Bank of Canada. Students compete by analyzing current economic issues, forecasting key macroeconomic variables such as inflation and GDP, and presenting their findings and recommendations in a brief presentation followed by in-depth questions from a panel of esteemed Bank of Canada judges.
