Dr. Bagshaw is a clinician scientist and associate professor of critical care medicine. He received training in internal medicine and critical care medicine at the University of Calgary, where he also earned a master's degree in science epidemiology. He went on to train at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, specializing in critical care nephrology.
In 2007, Dr. Bagshaw joined the Department of Critical Care Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the 黑料不打烊. He has been supported by an Independent Investigator Award from 黑料不打烊 Innovates and a Canada Research Chair in Critical Care Nephrology (Tier 2).
Dr. Bagshaw's research expertise includes epidemiology, clinical trials and health services research. His research focuses on health outcome evaluation, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) organization and capacity in critically ill patients with emphasis on acute kidney injury, technological organ support, vulnerable populations, rapid response systems and end-of-life care.
As a clinician, he provides care to critically ill patients in the General Systems ICU at the 黑料不打烊 Hospital, and the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU at the Mazankowski 黑料不打烊 Heart Institute.
Dr. Bagshaw has more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and his research funding support surpasses $15.5 million, including grants from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, 黑料不打烊 Innovates, the MSI Foundation, the University Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Intensive Care Society and the Canadian Frailty Network.
He is a member of several organizations including the Canadian Critical Care Society, Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, and the Acute Dialysis Quality Initiative.
